Philips India to extend healthcare services through PPP model

  • Total 36 operational PPP centres across Jharkhand and Haryana targeted by early 2019
  • Reiterates commitment towards offering sustainable access to quality healthcare through affordable services

New Delhi: Philips India, a leading company in healthcare technology, has successfully completed two productive years of bringing affordable and accessible healthcare services through its Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with HealthMap Diagnostics. The PPP agreement, initiated in August, 2015, aimed to create a sustainable health diagnostics network in the country at prices affordable to the low income population. Aided by innovative technology, Philips aims to mobilize investment funding to scale up the number of PPP centres from the current 17 to a total of 36 operational centres by early 2019.

 

Haryana, currently, has operational PPP centres across 10 locations. Some of these locations are - Rohtak, Gurgaon, Panchkula, Mewat, Sonepat (village – Khanpur), Bhiwadi, Agroha. Another 2 centres are in the pipeline. The PPP centres in Haryana offer high end services only i.e. high MRI’s and CT scans– 1.5 tesla MRI , High end CT scans. In the state of Haryana, till date, the PPP initiative has completed 150,000 MRI and CT scans.

 

HealthMap signed its second PPP with Government of Jharkhand for all 24 districts. As of now, it is operational in 7 locations, across Ranchi, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur, etc. 17 (seventeen) new centres will be added in Jharkhand by early 2016. The technology spans from basic radiology like ECG, X-ray, ultrasound to high-end CT and MR, depending on presence of specialties like orthopaedics, neurology, cardiology and trauma care.

  • Approx 12,000 scans till date
  • Approx 1,000 scans were done free of cost
  • Costs for low in group patients is reduced to 1/3rd of the market price

The projects being executed by HealthMap Diagnostics Private Limited, the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) between Manipal Health Enterprises Private Limited and Philips India Limited have had a positive impact on the provision of affordable healthcare services in the last two years. The first PPP was inked in mid of 2015 with the government of Haryana, for Gurgaon Civil Hospital, which is one of the busiest centres today.
